About Bengalen Sarenga

At Bengalen Sarenga in Switzerland, the health and wellbeing of our cats come first. Our breeding cats are screened yearly for HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) by certified cardiologists to ensure they are free from this common hereditary heart disease.

In addition, all breeding animals receive comprehensive genetic testing, including PRA-b, PK-Def, and other relevant hereditary conditions. This level of health screening is essential for us in responsible breeding.

Another key aspect of our work is carefully planned pairings with a strong focus on a low inbreeding coefficient (COI). By preserving genetic diversity, we support not only vitality in our lines, but also balanced temperament and strong constitution.

Our goal: healthy, typey, and socially confident Bengals that bring as much joy to their new families as they do to ours.

All breeding cats are screened for HCM, PKD, and cataract before their first breeding. For this we travel to the Wasserburger Kleintierklinik near Friedrichshafen, Germany β€” all cardiac screenings are conducted according to Pawpeds standards.

Bengalen Sarenga is registered with TICA (The International Cat Association).

Certification

FBA – Certified Breeding Education (Switzerland)

Angelika KΓΌng has successfully completed the FBA (Fachspezifische, berufsunabhΓ€ngige Ausbildung), a specialized breeding education programme recognized by the Swiss Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO / BLV). This certification is legally required in Switzerland for breeders who produce more than two litters or 20 kittens per year.

The FBA covers animal welfare, appropriate husbandry, genetics, and responsible breeding practices. For us, this is not just a legal requirement β€” it reflects our belief that anyone who breeds animals carries responsibility: towards the cats, the new families, and the breed as a whole.
